Peachy!!!

I got another request for a surprise drink…and this time the girl wanted it to be something sweet. It was relatively nice to get this type of request on a night when it was slow because it gave me something to do! I was originally going to make a boring Sex on the Beach, poured the peach for it and decided that I wanted to change it up and this is what I came up with:

  • 3/4 oz Peach Schnapps
  • 1/4 oz Banana Schnapps
  • 1/2 oz Malibu Coconut Rum (R)
  • Orange Juice
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Milk or Cream

In a pint glass filled with ice add all the liquor and the fill almost to the top with half OJ and half cranberry juice. Add a splash of cream or milk to the glass, shake and pour into a new, clean glass. It was so delicious and peachy…not too bad for a new drink on the fly!

Vanilla Mango

One of the regulars came in the other day and told me to, “Make him something delicious.” Usually, as a bartender you HATE to hear these words. You’re busy, don’t know if the customer will like it or just don’t feel like coming up with something, I on the other hand love hearing that. This is an opportunity for me to play with liquors and come up with new combinations. I knew that my friend liked mango, so I wanted to come up with a mango martini. Here is the end results of my experiment:

  • 1 1/4 oz Mango Schnapps
  • 3/4 oz Vanilla Vodka
  • Splash of pineapple juice

Add all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Yum, yum!!

Fluffy Marshmallows!

I am overly excited about this delicious Fluffed Marshmallow (R) by Smirroff. Today, a co-worker and I played with it and came up with a couple easy drinks with it. One was super simple and just add a shot to hot chocolate. It’s amazing!! Another thing would be add a shot to your favorite espresso drink or coffee with a bit of whip cream on top. Drinking in the morning is probably not a very good idea, but it is oh, so good!!! Or add a bit of Chambord, Espresso and Marshmallow…tasty treats!

The PERFECT White Gummy Bear

Hopefully, everyone knows the shot “White Gummy Bear” and if not and you like white gummy bears, you are completely missing out because this drink (or shot) tastes magically like the treat. It is a simple recipe, but a there is secret that not everyone knows to making this drink…PERFECT and it’s is the use of lemons. I love using lemons in my drinks because they take all the sweetness out of drinks and can make that “alcohol-y” taste disappear! Behind the bar lemons are magic (that and when mixed with soda water they erase stains) and I only recently have started to play with their abilities. Back on track, here is the White Gummy Bear recipe:

  • 1/2 oz Peach Schnapps
  • 1/2 oz Raspberry vodka
  • Splash Sweet and Sour
  • Splash Sprite/7-up
  • 2 lemon wedges

For shots:

Mix all ingredients into a shaker, squeeze and toss lemon wedges into the shaker also, shake and strain into a shot glass. Absolutely perfect!

If making a drink just add equal parts more sweet and sour and sprite and strain liquid into a new glass with new ice to avoid having the lemons and seeds in the glass.

Starbursts for Everyone!

This is a yummy concoction that I came up with by mixing N/A juices together that I found in my fridge. I got this idea from a roomie that I had a couple years ago who would always buy a ton of different flavors of juices and mix them together to come up with new innovative creations. Even today when I go over to her house she is still mixing fun juices together for her children. I take a spin on this and come up with fun blends that can go with or without alcohol.

  • Orange juice
  • Cran-Grape juice
  • Flavored Rum or Vodka of choice

As an N/A drink just mix the OJ with the Cran-Grape juice half and half together, mix and enjoy! Any type of flavored rum can be added to this blend to change it up a bit. I love it!

Skittles…

I came up with this drink a couple months ago and it’s a bar favorite! Tasty and sneaky this is one that I think should be a bar standard…move over Long Island Ice Teas! Same amount of liquor as a LIT’s, but so much more delicious.

  • 3/4 oz Bacardi Orange Rum
  • 1/4 oz Bacardi Raz Rum
  • 1/4 oz Bacardi Limon Rum
  • 1/2 oz Grape Pucker
  • Sweet and Sour
  • Sprite/7-up
  • Lemon wedges

In a pint glass mix filled with ice mix all liquor. Fill the glass with equal parts sweet and sour and sprite. Squeeze in a lemon wedge and drop into glass. put all ingredients into a shaker and shake rapidly. Strain into a new pint glass with new ice. Drink and enjoy!

S’more, S’mores!!!

’tis the season for holiday drinks!!! I love this time of year for the cold weather, the cuddling, holiday parties and the tasty treats that roll around once a year. I have been having a blast this year making a holiday drink menu that is easy to make at home for social gatherings.

One of new favorite ingredients to play with this holiday season is the Smiroff Fluffed Marshmallow (R) vodka. I saw this and I immediately thought, “S’mores!” so I wanted to devise a drink that mimicked this indulgent treat.

  • 1 oz Smiroff Fluffed Marshmallow (R) vodka
  • 3/4 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
  • 1/4 oz Creme de Cacao
  • Chocolate Syrup
  • Cream or Milk
  • Ground up graham crackers
  • Cinnamon and sugar

For a martini:

Mix Smiroff Fluffed Marshmallow (R) vodka, Irish cream, Creme de Cacao, a little chocolate syrup and a little milk or cream into a shaker with ice and shake. On a plate mix the graham crackers with the cinnamon and sugar together. Get the rim of the martini glass damp and roll the rim in the sugar/cinnamon/graham cracker blend. Swirl chocolate sauce in the body of the glass to create a pretty design and pour in the liquid from the shaker.

For a drink:

In a pint glass mix Smiroff Fluffed Marshmallow (R) vodka, Irish cream, Creme de Cacao, a little chocolate syrup and milk or cream to fill the glass. Pour this into a shaker and shake. On a plate mix the graham crackers with the cinnamon and sugar together. Take a new, clean pint glass and get the rim of the glass damp and roll the rim in the sugar/cinnamon/graham cracker blend. Swirl chocolate sauce in the body of the glass to create a pretty design and pour in the ice and liquid in from the shaker.

Whatcha Drinking?

Drinks (either non-alcoholic or oriented for adults) are a part of our culture. With every meal there is always that question, “What would you like to drink?” and this is usually followed by a pondering of what sounds appealing in the moment. Social gatherings are teeming with people with a drink in hand. Drinks provide warmth on a cold day, an escape from the heat and nights you can’t remember in college. In everyone of those moments beverages are often an afterthought, but still provide pleasure to the person holding the glass. With so many moments in life that you need a specialty drink to “fit the mood” this should be a one stop shopping to find what you are looking for via reviews, recipes and knowledge.
